Ostia develops a novel fabrication technology to prepare porous membrane (microporous, mesoporous, nanoporous) with precise nanoscale control of size and position and its density, which can also be tailor-designed and prepared to include built-in functions and characteristics uniquely required by specific applications.
Allow easy incorporation of functional layers or structural features to provide specific built-in functions within the membrane, tailor-designed and adapted to various applications.
Simple and robust fabrication at low cost in a scalable fashion for productization and commercialization.
Can be easily fabricated with tunable and precisely controllable size, morphology, position, density and distribution of pore.
Nanoporous membranes are of enormous interest for numerous applications, e.g., protein separation and purification, biomolecule detection, drug delivery, etc., as it offers great potential for high selectivity and high fluxes of molecular transport at nanometer-scale.
After past decades of development, nanoporous membranes with a pore-size distribution reasonably acceptable for general filtration purposes have become commercially available. However for emerging applications, economical and scalable membrane preparation offering good nanoscale control over the pore in terms of size, morphology, density and distribution is still lacking. Further, many advanced applications (e.g., biosensing, single molecular analysis, immunoisolation, etc.) even require extended functionality with characteristic chemical, biological and device properties, which can hardly be achieved with current passive nanoporous membranes made of single-component organic or inorganic bulk phase material.
Ostia is developing and delivering functional nanoporous membrane, namely Omnipotent Nanoporous Membrane (ONMe) by using its proprietary fabrication technique. With this ONMe technology, Unlike most of the nanoporous membranes in the market, ONMe is a novel nanoporous membrane with a multi-layered structure, consisting of functional layers which offer unique built-in characteristics for specific applications, which can be tailor-designed and manufactured at low costs, but with high flexibility.
Ostia’s ONMe products possess distinctive advantages over current membranes in the market, including:
1. High viability. Simple and robust fabrication at low cost.
2. High scalability. Scalable production for commercialization.
3. Precise control. Can be easily prepared with controllable size, position, and distribution of pore.
4. Multifunctionality. Allow easy incorporation of functional layers or structural features to provide specific built-in functions within the membrane.
5. Versatility. Able to be tailor designed and manufactured for various applications.
